The New Icona (PPF'd): Ferrari Daytona SP3
Ferrari went all out with it's newest addition to the Icona lineup: the Ferrari Daytona SP3.
This is the latest in the Icona series of Ferrari’s top-of-the-line supercars following the Monza SP1 & SP2. Before diving into more detail on how special the new Daytona SP3 is, and the approach we took to protecting it, I highly encourage you to check out our latest YouTube Video. We highlighted the entire protection process, the car’s incredible details and overall captured the visually-striking journey of this ultra-rare project.
Glad to have you back, I hope you enjoyed it!
Besides the SP3 being one of the most stunning Ferrari’s we have seen to date, there is also a lot more than meets the eye. Much like the rest of the Icona series, ultra rare, limited to only 599 built in the world and packs an incredible punch. Riding on the same chassis as the LaFerrari, sharing an engine with the Ferrari 812 Competizione, the 6.5L V12 sitting right behind the driver’s head delivers 829 HP, getting from 0-100km/h in only 2.85s with a top speed of 340 km/h. Now let’s move on to how we tackled the protection process…
Due to the caliber of this car, our workmanship when tackling the Full Body PPF needed to be as perfect as possible (and this car is no joke to work on). To ensure minimal seams and an undetectable finish, we did everything in one piece, and I mean everything..
Most notably, the massive rear engine cover which extends all the way from the top of the taillights to the rear wheel-wells… You will notice in the YouTube video that this is one of the largest pieces of film we have ever laid (contending with a Dodge Viper hood, Lamborghini STO hood, etc. which we also wrap in one custom-cut piece). The only way to achieve this was fully hand-cut and a lot of patience. We worked along the two vents and over the large curves of this panel until we had everything fully wrapped. These same principles continued along the rest of the panels: all edges neatly wrapped away from sight, precise hand trims & lots of patience.
Once every piece was sealed, we ceramic coated the interior, exterior, calipers and wheels before putting everything back together for a final photoshoot.
At first, we were somewhat taken aback by the incredibly aggressive exterior design of this car. But with complex installs such as the 812 Comp & Purosangue in the books, we were confident in completing this project to our standard and were super happy with the final result. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comment section of our YouTube video. Until next week!
