4 Reasons to Modify Your Car in the Off-Season

While you're snowed in during this surprise snowstorm here in Toronto, it's a timely reminder of why winter driving is best avoided, especially in performance supercars and luxury vehicles. Snow or shine, things at ABE are always moving!

In the shop right now is a BMW G99 M5 Touring, alongside several other ABE Customization projects, all safely indoors and in no rush to hit the road. For many owners, this quiet off-season is the perfect time to plan, prepare and install modifications long before the spring demand hits.

1. Parts Lead Times & Backorders

Many high-end parts, including carbon body kits, wheels, springs/links, and bespoke parts, are sourced internationally. Shipping delays and backorders are common, stretching into weeks or sometimes months.

Ordering during the winter months allows ample time for everything to arrive on schedule, without the pressure of peak-season timelines. When spring arrives, your car isn’t waiting on parts; it's ready to drive.

2. Spring Demand Gets Chaotic

Spring always comes around faster than expected, and demand across all services at ABE ramps up.  At the same time, increased activity also affects the entire supply chain. Suppliers tend to begin shipping higher volumes, lead times tighten, and the likelihood of delays or logistical issues outside of our control increases.

Planning and booking during the off-season allows for more flexibility, longer planning windows, and a smoother overall process. We've also consistently seen pricing across parts increase by 10-20% annually once spring comes around. Locking in today's pricing early is the smartest way to avoid the spring surge and proceed without any unnecessary waiting.

3. Supercars Are Already Stored

For many owners, winter means storage time for their supercars. This makes it the perfect opportunity to modify without sacrificing drive time. No missed weekends or Cars & Coffee events, just properly planned modifications so you can prepare for a fun spring and hit the ground running.

4. Complimentary One-Way ABE Flatbed

For larger-scale customization projects, our complimentary one-way flatbed service removes winter from the equation entirely. Your vehicle never touches the salty, slushy Toronto roads.

We transport it to ABE, complete the work, and return it safely, regardless of weather.

This is exactly what one of our clients is doing with their G99 M5 Touring. While they spend these messy months away in Florida, we’re installing a full carbon fiber body kit from Revozport.

We’re excited to continue sharing this build as it comes together. Stay tuned and have a great weekend!
