What Is RWB Porsche?

If you’re following us on Instagram & YouTube, you may ask yourself in the coming weeks if you don’t already know: What is an RWB Porsche? This week, I’ll be covering the backstory of RWB so that once we begin releasing the content on our latest project (and possibly our most exciting to date), you can share the same excitement with us.

An RWB Porsche is an extensively modified classic Porsche (Only 930, 964, 993 & 997 models to date) characterized by its widebody flares, exposed hardware, massive wings, deep-dish wheels, and various other aggressive racing elements depending on the style of body kit which the customer chooses. Although these incredible builds are seen as works of art in the car world, what’s really special about RWB is the artist behind it all:

AKIRA NAKAI.

Starting from his garage in Tokyo, Japan, Akira Nakai founded RWB in 1997 as a way to push the limits of his favorite car: The Porsche 911. RWB stands for "Rauh-Welt Begriff", German for "Rough World Concept" which embodies the spirit of the brand: bold aesthetics & track-ready performance.

The RWB body kits are only installed by Akira Nakai himself. He travels the world completing builds for everyone who manages to earn a spot on his waitlist (currently sitting at around 3 years). Everything is done by eye and through his decades of experience, Nakai has mastered his craft and continues to refine it year-by-year. So far there are only ~500 RWB Porsches built in the world, making them a rare sight to see.

At ABE, we were lucky enough enough to book the legend Akira Nakai for a build this year which we can't wait to share with you all. We've even held a spot open next year, if you're interested in taking advantage of this opportunity get in touch with us!

With all that being said, we will be sharing the progress of this build over the coming weeks so make sure to follow us on Instagram & subscribe on YouTube to make sure you don't miss it!
