R.I.P. Vinyl Wrap

The industry of paint protection film is taking an extraordinary leap, and I am super excited to show you the potential with one of our most elaborate projects to date. Coloured PPF is twice as thick as vinyl wrap, looks just like paint (no orange peel) and protects against stone chips, swirl marks, and stays looking perfect year round.

This is a Ford F-150 Raptor R, which came in with the Area 51 Blue paint job from factory. The client wanted the car in Gloss Black but also wanted the advantages that paint protection film has to offer. This was the perfect opportunity to put Black PPF to the test…

For a job of this caliber, and to ensure all of the blue paint underneath is completely undetectable, we had to fully disassemble the vehicle: bumpers, trim pieces, doors, etc. We wrapped all door jambs, doors, every nook and cranny then tucked neatly before putting the car back together. But, we didn’t stop there…

The customer wanted a full seamless finish with the rest of the pieces we removed, so we had them refinished through ABE Bodyworks then protected them with Gloss PPF as well through ABE Protect Plus. This included the flares, front and rear bumper grills and even the rear bed step which is normally a matte textured black finish.

When we finally put the Raptor together, we loved how well the paint & PPF matched. It looks just incredible fully gloss black. The client was so much happier with the way his car looked compared to how it came from the factory, and rightfully so, being a one-of-one on the road. This was a super exciting project but this is only the beginning... Any colour you possibly want to vinyl wrap your vehicle, you can now have looking just like paint, with all the benefits of paint protection film.
