Colored PPF Transformation: F-150 Shelby Super Snake

One of the most common misconceptions in the automotive protection industry is that all wraps are the same and it’s really not that important which shop you go to for your Paint Protection Film Installations. This couldn’t be further than the truth.

This is the way the story started for this F-150 Shelby Super Snake. It initially came to us with a previously installed Matte PPF Conversion. The customer was not happy with how it had aged over time and realized the quality of work for this caliber of car could be miles better. When looking over the car, we noticed several areas the previous installers took shortcuts to simplify the process: not disassembling the vehicle, Pre-Cuts not lining up edges, lots of seams, etc. This can unfortunately be common in the industry, so be sure to choose the right shop for these complex installs!

We carefully removed all of the previously installed PPF, to begin its refresh. The owner figured if he was going to invest in this project, he might as well change the colour to what he initially wanted the truck to be: Gloss Red w/ Gloss Black Stripes. This is gonna be fun.

We fully disassembled the vehicle, as with all installs, and began plotting away pieces of our Gloss Red PPF that shines just like paint. Now because we were doing a color-change, we had to make sure there was no gloss black showing from underneath. We wrapped all panels while neatly tucking the film over the edges for complete coverage. To complement the Red & Black theme, we painted all the badging before lining up a Gloss Black PPF stripe to go over top the truck. Taking this project to the next level, we also sent out the headlights for headlight housing paint to the exact match of the new wrap.

Once the car was put back together, we couldn’t get enough of the new look. Finally, we sealed it top-to-bottom, inside and out with ceramic coating. We’re super grateful for the opportunity to work on this project. Nothing beat seeing our client take delivery of his brand new Shelby truck. He was thrilled, and having kept him updated the whole time, it was quite the journey for all of us.

Have a great weekend!
